Bob Dylan -- greatest songwriter alive, noted guy who is from here -- is a-comin' to St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center on October 25. That's so soon!

Tickets -- $52.50-$129.50 -- go on sale Friday at noon via Ticketmaster and the venue box office. Opening will be R&B great Mavis Staples, she of recent Gorillaz/Arcade Fire/Jack White/Jeff Tweedy collabs; legend has it she rejected Dylan's marriage proposal in the '60s, but obviously they're cool now.

Dylan, 76, is touring in support of March's Triplicate, his most recent batch of Sinatra jams, which we reviewed here. City Pages may or may not have inspired its title. The pride of Hibbing, Minnesota's Never Ending Tour, which began in 1988, last visited his home state in 2014 for three consecutive Orpheum Theatre gigs in downtown Minneapolis.

Dylan found time to dick with the Nobel Prize Committee late last year, though he eventually accepted the award. Read his brilliantly sly acceptance speech from December here
