It didn’t take long for the sports world to fall in love with Millie Wall. The 99-year-old Minnesota Vikings fan has stuck by and/or suffered alongside her team throughout the franchise’s 57-year existence. However, Millie had never attended a playoff game. That changed when the Vikings organization gifted her tickets to see her beloved purple take on the New Orleans Saints in last January’s divisional playoff matchup. We all know how that game played out: The Minneapolis Miracle (see Best Sports Highlight) propelled the Vikings on to the NFC Championship Game. In Millie, Vikings fans found a darling old woman who embodied the distinguished history and boundless hope associated with our local football team. Seeing her celebrate the Vikings’ monumental playoff victory at U.S. Bank Stadium was enough to warm our collective heart, even though the Philadelphia Eagles would shatter it a week later.
